Gobi Desert | Travel The Gobi Desert Mongolia

In May 2019 a group of four friends set out to travel from Mongolia to Istanbul overland.

We started our journey in Ulaanbaatar, the insanely busy, slightly grubby, but fascinating capital city of Mongolia at the excellent Golden Gobi Guest House. After a series of delayed flights and me getting stuck overnight in Moscow we were finally ready to embark a trip that we had been planning for a very long time. 

Our rough plan in Mongolia was to hire a guide and driver and spend time exploring the Gobi Desert, we did that through the Golden Gobi Guest House and could not have chosen a better operator.

After a couple of days exploring both the city and food of Ulaanbaatar (UB) we set out on an epic 2200 km journey through the Eastern, Central and Southern Gobi.

Words and photos can never properly portray the huge expanses and vastness of this incredible land. We were continually in awe of the constant changing landscape and the resilience of the Nomadic people living in such a hash climate.
